Buying a House MADNESS!!!

If you've ever bought a house, tell me how you dealt with it!  I am pulling my hair out because I'm going crazy!  Extensions, paper work, signing, more paper work, and drama!  I'm excited, but not at the same time!  Tell me...WHY do you need to have a stove to be able to buy a house or a water heater for that matter.  Our house has no appliances at all and we don't have the extra money at this point to buy them, but we have to have them to be able to close.  So silly!

Other than that drama....Clayton started kindergarten.  He loves it.  We drive him to school and he asked me today if I could drop him off at the sidewalk instead walking him to his class.  He is so cute, I love it.  He understands that when we move he will be going to a new school with a new teacher and new classmates.  So when that happens we will throw a "graduation" party for him!

I get so have more time with Miss Aubrey.  She misses Clayton a lot, but I think she likes to have me and her time.  I don't know what we are going to do with all of that time, but we will figure it out.  She is a drama queen times 10 and I have no idea how I am going to handle her when she is a teenager!

Dean is a scooting machine.  He is actually getting rug burns on his arms from scooting so much!  He just got 2 more teeth and one more is almost out for a total of almost 6 teeth.  He turns 8 months here in a few days! He is getting so big!

Steve is working and working.  He went hunting a few weeks ago for some deer.  He saw lots, but didn't get to shoot any.  He'll try again some other time.

I am a chauffeur and cook extraordinaire.  Not much to complain about!  My skills with organizing paperwork is greatly improving because of all the paperwork I have to keep and give with buying a house!

Pics to come soon, as soon as I get my camera out and the card in the computer.  You all know how it is!

6 month check-up

I don't remember most of Dean numbers but i remember a lot of them.

He was 23 lbs

28 1/2 inches

He is in the 91st %ile for his height and 80th %ile for is weight.

He is a REALLY big boy.  He turns 7 months old here in a few days and he has been wearing 12 months old clothing for the last week and a half.  He fits them quite well.

He already as 2 teeth on the bottom and it looks like he is working on his top 2 as well.

We started him on some rice cereal and he LOVES it!  Right now we are starting at once a day, next week we will go to 2 times a day.  It's not like he needs it to bulk up or anything, but he loves it none the less!

He is rolling over all over the place and already gets into trouble if we aren't paying attention for a while.  I have to get my camera out and upload pics soon!

A-HA!

It has been awhile since I updated, this will have no pictures (SORRY!), but lots of info!

Steve - had to have is appendix removed.  That was an ordeal, but it happened, he feels better and can actually pick up Dean...my back feels better already.  He had to have 2 weeks off of work because of his 15 lb weight restriction.  He went back to work on Sunday.  Besides it being hard to sit down, he feels so much better and happy to be back to semi-normal!

Megan - having to deal with Steve laid up in bed and the kids driving me crazy, I have been okay.  I got caught up on birthday cards (YAY for crafting!) and tried and failed at keeping the house clean.  I have to say that I appreciate what Steve does with the kids more and more!  I am now the Activity Day leader for the 8 - 11 year old girls.  We haven't had a meeting yet, but I am working on that.  The previous leader just canceled the activities because she couldn't do it anymore and it took our ward forever to replace her.

Clayton - is excited to start kindergarten!  we debated whether or not to do that or preschool, but once we said kindergarten, that is what he wanted to do.  We have been working on manners, letters, and being nice to other kids.  He has gotten in to the habit of calling people names.  Like Aubrey, moron or dean, deany-puke.  So much fun!  He gets these weird tantrums where he is upset for a good hour and there is nothing you can do to calm him down.  It doesn't happen often, but when it does it does for a really stupid reason.  So strange!

Aubrey - is potty training once again...and it is sticking!  For the last two days she hasn't had a wet diaper.  We are struggling on the pooping part, but at least I won't have to buy diapers for a while!  She is getting to be huge!  She wears 5T shirts even though she just turned 3.  She is going to the high school preschool this coming school year.  She is going to have so much fun!  She loves being with other kids!

Dean - is one growing boy!  He is huge!  He loves to laugh and loves his siblings even more.  He doing lots of tummy time and he enjoys that more that being on his back sometimes.  He is 5 1/2 months now and is wearing 6-9 month clothes and is out-growing them.  He is trying to get his teeth, but the just went back.  So I am sure I will deal with a grumpy kid again really soon.  He still isn't sleeping through the night, but he is getting better.

As a family, we are having a blast and we are happy.  We are working on getting a house.  We need to get looking while the getting is good!  The kids keep talking about it and it is fun!

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

I decided to make these the other day.  They are SO good!
Here's the recipe:
Cinnamon drizzle:
1/2 cup melted butter
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 TBL ground cinnamon
stir everything together.  it should get to a consistency of toothpaste.  it will take it awhile, continue to mix it together to get it to that consistency.  Put into a ziplock bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner to drizzle it out.

Cream cheese glaze:
4 TBL butter
2 oz cream cheese
3/4 powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Heat butter over low heat.  Turn heat off; whisk cream cheese in until smooth.  Sift in powdered sugar.  Stir in vanilla extract

Pancakes:
1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 TBL canola oil
mix solids together, separately mix liquids together.  Add, leave lumps cook over medium low heat.

This was so good!  2 will probably be your limit when eating these.  They are so rich that more than two will make you sick!  Enjoy!

to update an update!

We had doctor appointments the last two days.  Aubrey's was yesterday.  It was quite funny to go with her.  She refused to stand on the scale, so mommy was weighed then I got to hold Aubrey.  Standing up to get measured for height was, eh, okay.  The nurse checked Aubrey's pulse and arm pressure.  She's good to go on all of those.  She even sat still for all of that.  She was confused the nurse held her fingers on Aubrey's wrist.  I had to explain a lot!  They tried to do a hearing test.  Aubrey cooperated in having the earphone next to her ear, but wouldn't respond if she heard something or not.  The doctor is very impressed with he vocabulary.  We need to get working on potty training, which I totally agree with, but she has been a bum about it.  Here are her stats:
Height - 3' 2" - 65th %ile
Weight - 34 lbs - 80th %ile

Then we had Dean's appointment today.  Let's just say that I don't want to go back to the doctor's for a while. Sitting in the waiting room for more than a half hour is not my idea of fun.  Dean was great at being checked at. We had a really bad night last night, so I think he was just really tired and not being himself this morning.  This might get on the gross side for some of you, but most of you are mom's so you completely understand.  Dean has the tendency of not pooping for several days and then just exploding constantly on one day.  I asked the doctor about this and he said it is normal for an exclusively breastfed baby to do that.  As long as the poop is runny, we're good to go!  After the appointment we had to go and do shots.  Besides the waiting, that we once again had to do ( UGH!!!) Dean did great!  He got 2 shots and and one oral vaccine.  He whined for each shot, but never really cried.  He then continued to crash on the was home and was asleep for a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours!  Here are Dean's Stats:
Height - 26 1/2 inches - 88th %ile
Weight - 18 lbs 3 oz - 90th %ile
Head circumference - 44cm - 85th %ile

My kiddos are getting really big and I love it!

Aubrey turned 3 at the end of May.  She had a great day!  It was all about her and that is exactly what she loves!  She had been talking about her birthday for a few days before it actually happened claiming each day was her day.
For her special day we had family come over for cake and ice cream.  Aubrey loved all the attention.  Here are some pictures of the festivities!

My Mother's Day

Nothing really exciting happened on my Mother's day.  Steve had to work, so mine didn't start until 4:30 when we got home from church.  That is when the happiness started!

I come home to find Steve sitting on the ground with my Cricut machine in from of him making me my mother's day card.  I didn't want much on mothers day, except for a family picture.  My father-in-law so willingly and patiently took several pictures.  Only a few turned out good and even then they aren't the best.  But it is what I wanted.  I'm sure Photo shop, whenever I figure it out, will make them turn out better!

We had pulled pork sandwiches with homemade coleslaw and corn on the cob.  It was so yummy!

My big Mother's Day gift will be combined with my birthday gift.  I'm getting a Kindle Fire.  I won't get it by my birthday, which is this coming Friday, but I know that I am getting it and Steve is working extra jobs to earn the money to get it.

Clayton sang in the primary during sacrament meeting on church and that I loved!  Aubrey kept calling it HER mother's day, not mine.

the one good shot of the kids!

I need to learn photo shop to get rid of the shadows

If only Dean and Aubrey were looking at the camera!
All in all it was a good day it felt good to be appreciated, even if it was for part of the day!

Bees 2012

Steve is doing 2 hives this year.  Two of his brothers are sponsoring one, so they will get most of the honey from that one.  We're hoping that these ones do better than the last few tries.  One year they died during the winter, another year they swarmed, another year they just didn't produce well...so here's to hoping they do great.
Here's some things you should know about bees:
They are all female, but only one queen
They can travel up to 20 miles to collect pollen to make honey
They are VERY clean bugs
They many different types of bees
During the winter, they huddle in a circle to keep warm and slowly work their way in and out of the circle to stay warm.

I'm sure there's more, but I thought that was cool!
Oh, they are different types of honey depending on where the bees go to collect the pollen

Here on some pictures of what it takes to get the bees in their new homes!
the bees

up close and personal

notice the dead ones?  That happens on the trip...
they die to make sure the queen
survives!

Two 3 # boxes ( about 15,000 bees per box)

The bees new home!

Getting ready to let them out!

unlocking the top

The queen (they keep her in a separate box so the other
bees get to know before they decide they might kill her)

Dropping the queen in

"dumping" the bees out

See them falling out

still trying to get them out

"knocking" them out

This is when the bees started to go exploring and looking for me!  9 landed on me and I started freaking out!  It's hard not to freak out when they are buzzing all over your ear ( I actually had a dream last night that one went in my ear, which is NOT unheard of!).  Steve stopped what he was doing and came to my rescue and brushed them off of me.

During all of his years as a bee keeper he has only been stung once.  The bees are doing REALLY good!  They have already started to draw out the wax in their hives and started getting things ready for the little ones to be laid and put in their little homes until they get big!

Again, here is to a great year with LOTS of honey!

Weight loss: Week 2

I didn't do much this week.  It was kind of put on hold for Steve.  His bee's came in this week (I'll post later) and then his jeep broke down on Friday.  So Friday night and Saturday afternoon consisted of him working on that and I was left with the kids.  But here is what I did do

I did:
Crunches
push-ups
bicep dips
squats (it's the only thing that puts Dean to sleep, so add 15 lbs, it's a good work out!)

I need to work on:
running
push-ups (not the girly ones)
portion sizes (I went over board this weekend)
more crunches (I have to lose this baby fat!)

I'm hoping that this week will go better!  Steve isn't doing anything super big, so I can go and do things that I should be doing!
